What is Baptism?
Baptism is an outward declaration of the decision you have made to surrender your heart to Jesus. It is a significant moment that will serve as a reminder that the past is gone, that God has saved you and that He will be faithful to continue what He started in your life. Baptism is also a great opportunity to celebrate what God has done in your life alongside your family and friends.

Baptism FAQs
Baptism isn’t what saves you. If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Baptism serves as a powerful symbol of your conversion. Being baptized by another person represents God the Father bringing us out of the grave. Baptizō is Greek for “immerse” and water is symbolic of the washing away of sin. Through the symbol of Baptism, we are buried with Christ and raised to new life through Christ.
Jesus modeled and commanded it. Baptism is a public ministry– we are called to progress our faith before others. Your story of how Jesus has changed your life has the potential to change someone else’s life.
Anyone who has decided to be a follower or Christ, has put their faith in Him, and has not been baptized, should be baptized. If you were baptized before and then later became a believer, then you should be baptized. If you were baptized as an infant, but you feel that the Spirit is leading you to be baptized now, of your own volition to publicly proclaim your faith, you can be baptized.
There is no waiting period or certain amount of theology that is required to be baptized.
While we do not baptize infants, we do offer child dedication as a next step for your child. Child Dedications are held twice a year, in the spring and fall. Unfortunately, many children are baptized for the wrong reasons. If a child is interested in being baptized, they will need to attend our Next Steps for Kids baptism class. In this class, you and our A-Kids volunteers will help assess if your child is ready for baptism.
